The PLI Conferences
event will take place this year on June 18th and 19th in Bordeaux, at
the Palais de la Bourse. This edition is organized in partnership with Alphanov, Alpha-RLH, Amplitude and Lasea. Eleven internationally renowned guest speakers will be present to share their expertise.
Meet
one of them: Minlin ZHONG, tenure-check professor in School of Materials Science & Engineering at Tsinghua University and the director of the Laser Materials Processing Research Center.
- About his background
Dr. Minlin ZHONG is a tenure-check professor in School of Materials Science & Engineering at Tsinghua University and the director of the Laser Materials Processing Research Center. He is the past President of the Laser Institute of America (LIA) and the past President and Fellow of the International Academy of Photonics & Laser Engineering (IAPLE) and the former Executive Editor in Chief of <Journal of Chinese Lasers>. His research interest covers laser micro-nano fabrication, laser surface engineering and laser 3D printing. Dr. Zhong has been the PI for 19 international cooperation projects and 40 domestic projects... He has been active in international academic field, serving as chair or co-chair for 40+ international and domestic conferences and 60+ keynote and invited presentations. He has published 360 papers, 30 patents and 6 book chapters.
- What made you want to work in this field?
"I have been working in the field of laser materials processing research and education for over decades, it's always an attractive and exciting field with bright future. We have published about 150 peer review papers on ultrafast laser micro-nano fabrication. Some of our research achievements show good potentials for industry applications, we are working on the way. "
- How did you learn about the PLI Conferences and what does this event represent for you?
"Last month I attended an ultrafast laser seminar in Shanghai organized by Amplitude, and learned about the PLI Conferences from Mr. Vincent Rouffiange. PLI Conferences means for me a good opportunity to learn about the latest developments of laser and laser applications in France, to exchange about our research in the field and to make new friends."
- What will be the subject of your conference?
"My presentation will be on ultrafast laser micro-nano structuring of ultra-thin vapor chamber for high efficient cooling in microelectronics."
- What do you expect from these two days of conferences?
"Enjoy the conference, present my research, listen to the other presentations, exchange about research and ideas and make new friends both in academic and industry."
